Maybe no more gear cutting... Well finally after many passes around the 79 tooth slow change gear we are finally done, and an achievement it has been! There was a small hiccup with 1 tooth, as something went slightly wrong (tiredness creeping in) but was picked up before any serious cutting depth was made. Now finished, the small issue has been 99% machined out. The next step hopefully will be easier and more interesting, in starting the main bearing shells and the gear change bracket. This can be seen balancing in place above, and below was the first pass on the miller to square it up. Clearance wise its close to the gears, and I can see the shaft bearing is a fraction too thick so the alignment needs correcting first. The model engineers Show is a only few weeks away on 15th October in Warwick, a good source of inspiration, tools and parts from the suppliers, I will try to do a show report in the next instalment.
