Burrell Traction Engine, Slow progress due to illness. Slow progress has been made in the workshop due to illness hopefully not the mother of all viruses but man flu. However some progress was made before i was struck down, the chimney saddle is actually bolted down, as this is not the most recent photo. A certain amount of machining was required to get the towing bracket to locate flush but as can be seen I still intended in making it look like a casting so the bottom was not machined. Nice sunny day for a photo opportinity so I had all the parts out and made a mockup on the lawn, the bucket being a new addition I aquired this from a stay in a posh hotel where the chips for the evening meal to the room came in and now becomes a part. Lock Down long haul - Hopefully stop COVID references. Hopefully, stop the reference to any viruses other than the sort you get on your computer because even spending so much time in the workshop you can have too much of a good thing. Since the last post, only the items painted and I've finished a few bits off with the exception of the chimney saddle. Good time for a photo. After a lot of time fiddling about with the miller and the lathe trying to decide if I can mount it and have room to swing a tool, I decided on the setup above. It's still to be proven but test cuts appear to work and the finish looks ok to me. It's slow machining this way I can see why they call it a boring bar !!
